Think about all that you hate/have hated in your life, and the things our society hates, or things people around you hate. Why do you hate them?
My theory is, people hate that which they do not understand. Think about what you hate. Now try to learn more about it.
If you hate a person, try to imagine what it must be like to be them; what confusion or pain do they experience when nobody is watching? How often do you think they cry? What must their childhood have been like?
Take your strongest beliefs or the beliefs you have but others oppose, and try to understand why they think what they do. Imagine their point of view.
I am fortunate to have come from a family that we really weren’t allowed to hate things…so I never really thought of hating as an option. We learned to define and analyze what we thought so we didn’t simplify our thoughts or feelings (about anything) to words like hate. I think this taught us to learn about things, just like you are saying, so we didn’t just dislike something because we didn’t know or understand it.
Well said girl.
