As I am not taking P.E. this year, already my abs of steel have begun to fade and turn rather…cushioned. I decided a while back to find something to keep me in shape besides a strict regimine of working out at home and then going running. Finally, a few weeks ago, I found something.

I’m excited because I’ve never really played a sport before, and it’ll be on an all girls’ team with some pretty cool people. I also need a way to let out my aggression. (haha, UH OH!) The way it’s been described to me is, it’s like a mixture between soccer and football. It originates in the UK.

Be careful girl! We have a good friend who played Rigby in college, and it is brutal! Be careful to protect that pretty face!

Amelia…I knew we were kindered spirits. I happen to have held the following belief for years…I think Rugby is one of the only TRUE sports on the planet. When I did a cross cultural program in Ireland after my senior yr of HS, I went to a Rugby match with my host family…WHOA!!! Those players are REAL athletes…they are not messing aroud, the feel no pain, they have incredible strength and they just make it happen. Later in life, a friend of mine ended up playing on a team in New Zealand…he’s an animal…he now has a metal plate in his face…literally broke his face during a championship match…AND kept playing!
I MUST come to one of your matches!!! Maybe we can make it an ICU event!
Good luck, dear! Prepare yourself for many painful and large bruises and a lot of girl-on-girl contact. It’s a popular sport here at Smith… I have 3 friends doing it. Let me know how it goes! And I definitely agree, it is one of the only true sprts left…

You rock my socks girl! I have some girlfriends who play college rugby and they are hard core…and they are crazy about it. I am totally uncoordinated, so I have never tried it, but it has a good rep among my boy and girlfriends who have played or compete.
The only thing that could convince me to play is if I was promised the position as hooker.
