I wrote a post a few weeks back about all of the crazy things that have happened to me, or at least some of them.
These past two weeks have been rather eventful in a few ways. I’ve been staying at school till around 10 this week and last week we were preparing for a show. The shows went well and I got a lot closer to various choir members.
Yesterday I rolled out of bed, rather sleep deprived, and went to Guluwalk in Westwood by UCLA and walked with hundreds of other people with banners and shirts about stopping the war in Northern Uganda. A former child soldier spoke, but he started crying before he could even voice some of his experiences. I met a few interesting people and I have pictures, but due to my computer situation I’ll post them when my personal computer has internet. (I’m on Pietro’s.)
This week I also found out that a girl at my school named Anna Kim who was a mutual friend had a bad reaction to some medication that worsened her pre-existing heart condition. She had a heart attack, and on the way to the hospital she died three times. She suffered severe brain damage and ended up in a coma all this week (they believed she was brain-dead). During guluwalk, my other friend Ana who was walking with me got a text that said Anna had passed away.
Once again, I am reminded that life is elusive, uncontrollable, and can never be valued enough. She was my age, shared many of my same friends, had an insane sense of fashion, was always happy, and befriended everyone from every social group. The picture at the top of this post is of Anna.
Tomorrow school has also been cancelled because of the fires that are raging all around the valley. Today the sky was completely orange and walking outside made it hard to breathe.
The good news is, Ana and I are sponsoring a little girl naked Concy who lives in Uganda, and I’m already in love with her! :] I hope I can get a picture of her scanned in soon.
Weird stuff.
I am so sorry about your friend. Life is so precious. It really makes you think twice about the things you do and say.
Good luck with your whole life and all the crazy stuff in it.
I’m so sad to hear about your friend. Life is so uncontrolable!
I’m proud of you because you have such a big heart for people you have never met. You’re awsome girl!
