(I stole this from Laura)
JACOB
We’ve been together for: 1 year on April 20th
What I call him: Jacob, Jacobo
What he calls me: Amelia (We don’t exactly do pet names…)
How we met: A mutual friend took me to a concert at a little grungy venue for high school bands in burbank. Jacob was there, and when he couldn’t find a chair he sat down on my lap. I bit him in the shoulder. He claims it was ‘love at first bite.’ Nerd.
How I knew I liked him: He earned the respect of my parents very quickly, and is friendly and warm to everyone he meets. He is selfless and it’s obvious
How I knew I loved him: There was no difficulty connecting to him. We didn’t have the awkwardness attached to most little high school relationships. We were there for each other form the start, but were still able to have our own independence. He is so genuine with his heart that it’s impossible not to love his guts. :]
The thing I love most about him: He is humble. I once asked him what car he would get if he could have any car in the world- and he said he would keep his little ‘94 honda accord. He cares about everyone. He is honest. He is kind. He loves the simple things. His heart is warm and it shows in his smile, and he makes an effort to give the best of himself. He understands that although I can be vindicated and angry, I have a kind and loving heart, too.
The thing I hate about him: I don’t hate anything about him. It’s difficult when I go away for long periods of time, though, because he takes it especially hard.
He makes me laugh when: He’s blunt and sees so clearly through the drama of other people. He is a little kid at heart, and it’s funny when I realize how easy it is to make his day. Ex. I make him a sandwich or cookies or dinner and he’s giddy. The way he loves the people close to him with no shame, the way he enjoys the little things the most, how ticklish he is
I make him laugh when: my incredible lack of grace results in my running into things, or when I completely zone out or lose my train of thought and make it obvious. He thinks the things I say are cute.
What makes him tick: Soccer, guitar, writing music, finding the truth in people, the rubik’s cube (sp?), working out, random facts, his youngest sister Juliet, his cat, swim team, chicken and rice, helping people
What makes him ticked off: his ulcers, when people don’t think before they act (especially when it’s out of frustration or anger), when people don’t communicate, his ankle injury because he can’t play soccer anymore. hmm. i can’t think of much else
What he wants to be when he “grows up:” good question. Everybody thinks he’s just going to become the CEO of some big company because of his way with people, but his dream job would be like one of the guys on CSI because he’d always be reading people and never bored
What he would want to be right now: Not tired, with me, laying on the couch, with his ulcers not hurting. Maybe at the beach, or playing soccer on a nice day, or with his brothers.
If I could change anything about him: Nothing really. He’s not the kind of guy I’d imagined myself with before I met him, because he’s the exact opposite of myself sometimes, but I guess opposites attract and we just work. : ]
Cheesy I know, but 1 year is an accomplishment nonetheless.
Everyone has to be cheesy every now and then
Ahhh so cute, I wish i had met this guy, but i can’t wait to meet him. He sounds like he evens you out, and enjoys your good times. There are not many times i can remeber when you weren’t smiling, laughing and having fun. It always so nice to have somebody to do it with. And I hear you loud and clear on the blessing of having grace & Poise. I lack as well.
What. A. Guy.
Happy Anniversary!!! You two make a beautiful couple and I am glad that someone as nice as Jacob is my daughter’s boyfriend.
